«The younger generation rejoices in the new year»/«Juyten’s wedding»

On the occasion of the New Year, the Turkmen State Puppet Theater continues its colorful festive performances called “The Young Generation Rejoices in the New Year.” In these colorful performances, young viewers rejoice, sing, and dance with their favorite fairy-tale characters. After these festive performances, they can watch stage productions prepared for the New Year. These colorful performances continue until January 12.

                             "Juyten’s wedding"

Events depicted in play under the title “Juten’s wedding” dwell on national traditions and customs of Turkmens. The play mainly tells about sending by bridegroom of his matchmakers to the bride’s house, about national tradition of handing over by matchmakers of the bride’s wedding gown as well as the art of sewing by bride of dowry, since delicate needlework has always been inherent in Turkmen women and girls. Examples of marrying a son and marrying off a daughter taken from everyday life, being one of national traditions and customs of Turkmens, brightened up by means of funny phrases, funny events, are presented for spectators’ attention.
